EMT/Paramedic Degree Programs

Earn a EMT/Paramedic degree from an accredited school

In the event of an emergency, EMTs and paramedics are dispatched by a 911 operator, where they often work with police and fire fighters at the scene. They respond to a wide variety of emergencies including car accidents, heart attacks, slips and falls, childbirth, gunshot wounds, and other events where immediate medical attention is required.

Emergency Medical Technician diploma programs are available for those looking to enter the job market quickly or complete refresher training to update their skills. For those looking for more extensive education, an Associate in Applied Science (AAS) degree in Emergency Medical Services may be a good choice. All 50 States require EMTs and Paramedics to be licensed, and in most cases, licensure renewal is required every two to three years. In addition, EMTs and Paramedics are required to complete refresher training to fulfill continuing education requirements.

As a student, you'll explore basic emergency skills, such as managing respiratory, trauma, and cardiac emergencies, and patient assessment. As you advance through the curriculum, coursework may include topics like:

  • Human Anatomy and Physiology
  • Cardiology for the EMT
  • Pharmacology for the EMT
  • Pathophysiology
  • Field Internships
